How Our Baby Line Sparked a Crystal Design Movement
Before Gem & I became the home of sculptural crystal bowls, glowing quartz lamps, and the kind of décor designers bookmark for their dream projects, we were doing something much smaller. Literally.
We were thinking about babies.
Long before we were known for statement pieces in entryways or rose-quartz sculptures styled in Architectural Digest–level homes, we were quietly building something tender, intentional, and radically innovative. What many people don’t know is that Gem & I actually began with a sister brand: Le Petit Crystal, our baby wellness line created to bring the calming properties of crystals to little ones in a safe, functional, beautifully designed way.
Where It Started: A Sleep Sack Unlike Anything Else
Years ago, when weighted baby products were made with plastic pellets and marketed as “good enough,” we knew there had to be a better, more natural solution. Babies crave grounding. They crave softness. They crave safety.
So we created the world’s first sleep sack lightly weighted with rose quartz—a stone long associated with comfort, nurturing, and soothing energy.
Not gimmicky. Not heavy. Just one ounce of carefully placed rose quartz chips layered over the sternum in an ultra-soft, thoughtfully engineered design.
It was the first time crystals had been used in a weighted baby product—not as an aesthetic choice, but as a wellness–driven one.
The Lovey That Became a Fan Favorite
Next came our Crystal Cuddle™ Lovey, a tiny blanket that little hands never want to let go of. Soft minky plush, gentle weight, rose-quartz chips placed at each corner. Babies love the tactile sensation. Parents love the calming effect. And because it was created by mothers who design with intention, it’s machine-washable and CPSC tested.
We didn’t set out to create a “trend.” We set out to solve a problem: how to give babies a natural sense of grounded comfort.
The Moment Everything Expanded
Word spread quickly. Retailers noticed, including an iconic Los Angeles brand opening a lifestyle and home store. They asked us to bring a crystal presence to their shelves. An adult presence. For every room in the house.
That’s when everything shifted.
We began to focus on heirloom-quality décor. Sculptural bowls. Soft-glowing lamps. Pieces that felt modern and soulful at the same time.
And so Gem & I Crystals was born.
Le Petit Crystal remained our heart. Gem & I became our home.
Where We Are Now
